I have not needed to charge the battery often at all and, it charges fairly quickly. The magnetic charging cord uses magnets to attach and to ensure proper polarity of the attached charger. The screen is simple and visible without being too bright. The watch is not particularly cumbersome or prone to snagging. I have unintentionally turned it off while trying to select a menu option. Press-and-hold the power button for turning the watch on, off, AND for selecting menu options. It takes a series of presses and press-and-hold to change anything on the device. All actions and setting are done via the up, down, and power buttons. I don’t mind that at all, but others might. That is a bit inconvenient but, it does seem to make the battery last a long time between charges. I have to reset the time every time I use it. When turned off, it is completely powered off. The only way to stop the device from functioning it to turn it off by holding the power button for 3 seconds. It has three menus options: time, “electric” (alarms), and languages. ![]() The user interface is cumbersome and limited. There is no option to set more or less than 3 alarms. So far, I have been able to hold the power button for the 3 seconds needed to turn the watch off once it zaps me awake. The instructions state that allowing it to shock without wearing it can damage the watch. Also, there was no way I was falling back to sleep after being shocked by this watch unless I did so intentionally or if the band broke during the waking panic to make it stop. I set the three alarms at increasing intensity and duration a couple minutes apart. At maximum shock setting, it made my hand and wrist move and, my forearm was tingling from elbow to finger tips for hours afterwards. The self initiated function can not be adjusted and, it hits you with the maximum setting. The watch has 3 power settings and 3 duration settings for each of the 3 alarms alarms. There is an option to initiate a 5 pulse shock by pressing the up and down buttons simultaneously. All that being said, do not test this thing on yourself in the presence of anyone that you do not want to know exactly how many profanities you can utter rapidly. I am also more sensitive to the sensation of such shocks. This has been verified by others having witnessed the sparks. I work in the electrical industry and, I have found that I am more prone to static electric shocks. There are a lot of factors that effect the impact of a given electrical charge from one person to another. I have not found a replacement or upgrade band for sale, yet. Given the limited product diversity for comparable devices, this alarm watch is a viable option as long as you go into the purchase knowing that you will have to figure out a solution for the inadequate band. ![]() For the price I paid for the device, and for its purpose, the band is inadequate. I broke the band within the first week of consecutive nightly use. ![]() However, the silicone band is completely inadequate. It feels like having a TENS unit turned up high beyond a tolerable level and like when a TENS unit has poor skin contact. First of all, it does complete the critical tasks of being an accurate alarm and, it’s shock capabilities are substantial.
